October of 2026 in the Music Business Collective: a comprehensive review of the past month

BY KAILEEN GRUBER

This month the Music Business Collective had several wins. A few key moments were the annual homecoming tailgate show, four shows with the Aggie Theater, and the first MBC collaboration with AEG Rocky Mountain.

Event highlight of the month: CSU homecoming tailgate show with Ballpark! and Backblunt.

The annual tailgate show was hosted on Oct. 18 in the student tailgate lot in front of Canvas Stadium at CSU. This year's lineup featured two local bands, Backblunt opening and Ballpark! headlining. The yearly tradition of the tailgate show began in the fall of 2022, and has grown each year attracting hundreds of people to the MBC.

Aggie Theater

In October, the MBC collaborated on marketing four shows, listed below.

  • Oct. 8: Sons of Habit

  • Oct. 16: Stop Light Observation

  • Oct. 23: Sploinky Rave

  • Oct. 31: It's a 2000s Party

For each show, the MBC provided social media marketing, ticket giveaways, and postering at tabling events.

The MBC will continue to promote four shows per month at the Aggie Theater, unless otherwise disclosed.

AEG Rocky Mountain

The MBC collaborated with AEG Rocky Mountain for the first time. AEG and the MBC collaborated to market John Summit, a large house music artist, to college students in Fort Collins. The show took place in Boulder at Folsom Field on Oct. 18.

The MBC did social media marketing, a ticket giveaway which sent eight MBC followers to the show for free, and street teaming, which ended with over 80 posters being hung around Fort Collins.

AEG Rocky Mountain is one of the largest promoting companies in Colorado, operating venues like the Mission Ballroom and Red Rocks Amphitheater.

FoCoMA

The MBC teamed up with the Fort Collins Musicians Association (FoCoMA) to bring the Music Biz Roadshow to Avogadro's Number on Oct. 21.

The Music Biz Roadshow highlighted speakers such as author Emily White, Antony Demekhin from Tuney and Sean McNamara from the Music Licensing Collective. This event provided one central message: that any community can be a music community.

MBC Events

The MBC set up an interactive table booth at the Festival on the Oval on Oct. 17, an annual festival that kicks off CSU family and homecoming weekend. The booth featured cornhole, a guitar to play, and posters/ swag.

The MBC set up a tabling event in the plaza of the Lory Student Center at CSU on Oct. 27. This tabling event was to promote upcoming shows and the November education series, the Musician Matchmaker sessions.

For more information on the Musician Matchmaker events, visit the MBC instagram: @csu_mbc.

The MBC collaborated with a fundraiser through Chipotle's local fundraiser program, Do good with Chipotle. 20% of every order was donated to the MBC, in an effort to raise money for a new PA system. This fundraiser took place on Oct. 20.

The finance committee has a goal to set up a monthly local fundraiser for these efforts.

Soundbar (formerly The Coast)

The MBC provided social media marketing and street teaming for the annual Inferno rave at SoundBar (formerly The Coast).

This year the inferno rave was hosted the night before Halloween on Oct. 30.

Ramskeller

The MBC hosted a PA education session at the Ramskeller on Oct. 8. Led by Live Events Chair Ellie Brown, this education session taught members from several committees how to operate the sound equipment, as well as general audio engineering practices.

It is likely that the MBC will host another PA education session in the spring semester.
